I would like to put in writing how good the work was done downstairs. I can honestly say I had no problems at all with anything whilst the building alterations were being done. All those who were on site were polite and courteous. If I had cause to ask them to stop doing anything for a reason they all ways did so without complaint. Paul/Jeff always consulted with me to ensure that I was kept up to date and I have nothing but praise for them.
When I first spoke to GarsideLaycock back in early August 2012 we were already nearly two weeks behind with the project. We were promised that the situation would be turned around, with all the necessary resource and skill on site to ensure that we delivered to the Royal Mail target date. I should now like to take the opportunity to thank GarsideLaycock and the team for achieving this.
I should like to say a particular thank you to Andy, who has done an amazing job to get all your sub contractors mobilised so quickly. Andy has also been fully supportive of Paul Dixon's role on site.
Paul has been exceptional. His "can do" positive attitude has enabled him to cope with the condensed programme. He has been excellent at dealing with our design team, the many RM client interfaces and maintaining a safe site. He is very professional in his approach and I would certainly recommend him to Royal Mail Group on future schemes.
Just a short thank you for the professionalism and excellent work whilst moving Failsworth Delivery Office over to Oldham DO. Can you pass on my thanks to Andy Murray in particular who, in my opinion, went the extra mile and made himself available to myself after the move for anything that might have been missed during the move. Job well done.
I have just finished working with GarsideLaycock for the first time on the Dawson Alterations project at Greenhead College and have to say it has been a fantastic experience and one I certainly hope to repeat in the future. Throughout the project GarsideLaycock have employed an open and collaborative approach to contracting which has allowed them to develop a close relationship with ourselves and the client. The end product they have delivered is to extremely high standard and the staff at the College have made numerous comments about how happy they are with the building.
Particular praise is given to Andy Shuttler and Matt Pettigrew who were key in the successful delivery of the job. Despite a challenging programme and a number of issues encountered during demolition, Andy and Matt’s proactive approach to problem solving and clear and concise communication skills contributed significantly to bringing the project within budget and to programme.
In summary, a highly skilled, professional outfit which I would thoroughly recommend and look forward to working with again.
I wish to express my appreciation and thanks to all those involved in the Front Entrance Project at Oldham Magistrates’ Court for their professionalism, high standard and quality of work which was afforded before, during and on completion of the installation.
In particular I would like to thank Paul Dixon (Garside Laycock) for his great support and management of the project at court level. He has acted in a most professional and courteous way in dealing with me, the contractors and the administration involved in running a project of this scale. He has been available and has offered assistance to me during the project which in turn has assisted me in arranging out of hours cover, access for the public and enabling me to carry out my duties to accommodate the contractors involved in the project.
Our working relationship, regarding working patterns and modifications helped enormously to achieving the excellent standard of workmanship with the minimum of disruption.
Paul has been extremely helpful and appraised me regularly of the progress during the installation of the front entrance.
May I say, that the Courts staff, Magistrates’ and Court users are impressed with the new structure and the way the project was conducted with the minimum of disruption resulting in an impressive and functional main entrance to the courts.
Now that all the work is done I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know how impressed we all were here at Barnsley with Paul the site foreman.
He was extremely safety conscious at all times. He went out of his way to ensure that he and his men didn’t interfere with the operation during the day. He always checked that everything he was doing was correct and even went out of his way to do extra things for us. He was always available and nothing was too much trouble. We couldn’t have wished for anyone better.
Following an extensive pre-qualification exercise GarsideLaycock were successful in securing a £2M contract for the refurbishment of the clinical sections of the Accident & Emergency Department at Tameside General Hospital. The Department remained operational throughout the refurbishment scheme which involved 7 phases, which ran continuously over an 18 month period. The works included both internal refurbishment and the construction of a single & 2 storey extension, and resulted in significant improvements to the Majors, Minors, Resuscitation and Paediatric Units.
From the outset, GarsideLaycock demonstrated a sympathetic outlook towards the needs of the Department and also the hospital in general, being both co-operative and helpful, particularly where there were conflicting requirements. Close understanding and co-operation continued throughout the project which was particularly evident in the periods between phases, when clear boundaries between site and clinical areas could have become confused. Constant liaison was critical in minimising risk to the Patients, Staff, Visitors , Contractor and Trust, and took the form of daily and weekly liaison meetings between clinical staff, site management and Capital Projects Engineer, which were followed up by formal monthly progress meetings. Regular visits from GarsideLaycock senior management re-enforced the company's close involvement. There was also positive engagement with and uptake of feedback from other Trust stakeholders, such as Infection Control who have stated that the scheme was /an exemplar" of construction work in a clinical environment.
The standard of the finished scheme was of the highest order, which resulted in high quality workmanship providing only minimal snagging upon completion. In addition GarsideLaycock brought further benefits to the scheme with their pro-active involvement in value engineering which released funds to enable additional areas to be included through their understanding of the nature of the clinical requirements - this resulted in the formation of an additional bay.
The scheme was completed under time and under budget, with no unforeseen down time and with no detrimental effect on patients and staff, with the disruption to the Department being kept to an absolute minimum.
Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will have no hesitation to invite GarsideLaycock to tender for similar works in the future and thoroughly recommend them to others.
I just wanted to thank you for all your support and help over the last seven years that I have been here. You have always been approachable and helpful if there was something you could do you would endeavour to get it done. Your workforce have also always been polite helpful and got the jobs done with care and attention for the workplace they were in.
We got to know many of the staff and again can only say how professional they all were. Good training shows through Lee and GarsideLaycock has it in spades.
Many thanks and hopefully our paths may cross again please pass my thanks on to all the workforce: Graham, Graham, Paul, Brent, Andy and many more that I am sorry I did not always remember their names but I do remember their faces!! And usually their choice of tea coffee!
On behalf of my colleagues on the Ormskirk Bench I wish to thank you for the manner in which you conducted the recent work on the roof of the Ormskirk Courthouse.
I would especially like you to convey our thanks to your site Foreman, Mr John Helm. The courteous and helpful manner in which he conducted the work was exemplary and contributed in no small part to the smooth completion of the contract whilst allowing the business of the Court to continue with very little interruption.
He kept everyone informed as to the progress of the work at all times and each request for assistance was met with a willing smile. John is a great credit to your company and is to be commended.
I wanted to take the time out this week to highlight the work that members of your team perform within a number of my delivery units within the Manchester postcode area (Lee & Russ).
My managers often feedback on the prompt and swift work carried out by your team and again this was highlighted whilst I was within North West MPU today.
Both Lee and Russ are exceptionally friendly, polite & accommodating towards managerial demands when they attend site.
Whilst I am sure you have a strict policy in terms of jobs/requests that are logged being carried out to spec. Both Lee & Russ do work with the managers to ensure the best outcome for all parties is achieved whilst ensuring the spec is met within GarsideLaycock’s expectations.
As I launch World Class Mails within North West MPU I hope that we continue to have continued support and the great working relationship we have with GarsideLaycock as the work your team carry out will be paramount over the coming few weeks as we encounter the World Class Mails journey and unit improvements are required.
I would like to pass on my thanks to both Lee & Russ for their hard work & efforts.
