I am writing on behalf of all the staff in the Thompson Yates Building to express our thanks for the work that has just been completed to replace the windows etc. It has made a significant difference to the our working environment and we are extremely grateful.
I have also been asked by them to draw to you attention the excellent planning and execution of the work. It is not easy to replace windows when the building is fully occupied and operational. The internal team have keep us well informed, involved us in the process throughout and have made changes to their schedules to accommodate our needs around teaching and examinations. The external contractor has produced work to a very high standard, has kept us briefed daily throughout the work and also been very accommodating to our needs. In all the time I’ve been involved with building works in the University I can honestly say this has been the best firm I have ever had to deal with. Their attention to detail to ensure quality and satisfaction has been excellent. All staff have been courteous and a pleasure to work with. I can highly recommend them for any future building projects in the University.
From completion of the recent refurbishment at Dial House Manchester, I would like to communicate that John Helm was the best Site Manager we have worked with on site. His attention to keeping everyone informed was 1st Class!
I felt it appropriate to contact you with regard to the outstanding job Paul Dixon (Site Manager) has done here during the last 4/5 months. He has acted in a professional manner and communicated with me on all aspects of the work, nothing was too much trouble to him. I think I can actually say I am sorry the job has come to an end as the challenges we have all been faced with during this time have been overcome and an excellent achievement to all.
I would just like to thank GarsideLaycock but mostly Terry Milne who covers this area. Terry helped us with a problem with sourcing some break glass bars for our high security Aviation department. Without Terry’s speedy and helpful response I think the Department for Transport could have issued abatement to us for non compliance with regards to security (as job completed well within the timescale). Terry, along with Ian who is also very helpful has been a GarsideLaycock engineer in our area for some time now and everyone who comes into contact with him have nothing but praise for his professional attitude throughout. Just thought you would like to know how Terry is an excellent advocate and asset to your company. Many thanks.
I think it is only right that I drop you all a line to convey my gratitude to you for your contribution to the recently completed project in the Thompson Yates Building.
All at Garside and Laycock should be commended for carrying out the works in such a professional manner, when considering the timescales that we were given. Special thanks to Paul and Dave for coordinating the works, especially the window replacement of the whole building, whilst minimising disruption to the staff of Thompson Yates. The programming of the works was extremely important and the operatives on site ensured that it was strictly adhered to.
The measure of a well run project is usually recorded by the number of complaints received from the occupants. Fortunately, we were working with an understanding and extremely cooperative Department. So I thank you all once again for ensuring that a potentially difficult project was made easier due to your combined efforts.
I just wanted to let you know how impressed we were with Ian Taylor and Terry Milne today. They're both great lads and always do a cracking job - nothing is ever to much for them - but today the quality of their workmanship was also commented on by another Manager so I thought it appropriate to let you know. In my experience - and having worked in Courts for 20 years - I know that people are often quick to complain but don't take the time to give praise when it's due - so I'm putting that right.
Ian and Terry turned up at 8am this morning to dismantle and remove a Bruynzeel filing system for us. We thought it was going to take them the best part of a day to do it but they cracked on and had it all down, off site and the mess hoovered up (which I think impressed the girls the most!) by about 11am and then even had time to do a couple of other jobs for us while they were here.
I can't fault the excellent service we always get off them but today we didn't want it to go un-noticed and would be grateful if you could thank them on our behalf.
Our MTC, GarsideLaycock, attended site within 45 minutes of being contacted by our Helpdesk at around midnight. An initial assessment of the situation was undertaking and the immediate area was made safe, cordoning off where the vehicles would fuel. Our Consultants attended on the Sunday along with GarsideLaycock, as well as a structural engineer. A further daylight assessment of the canopy was undertaken.
The canopy was listing at a precarious angle with clear evidence of stress fractures in the brickwork plinths around the steel supports. All necessary communication with Cashco, PiC and Distribution Manager was had, alternative vehicle fuelling arrangements were made and two cranes were ordered for the following day. Unfortunately due to high wind speeds and crane availability, it was 8 pm on February 9, before the canopy could be lifted from the unsafe supports and be set aside for reuse. Our MTC’s sub-contractors, undertook the canopy skirting removal and subsequent lifting of the canopy itself which required the use of a third crane due to the weight involved. Plans are now being prepared for a replacement structure to support the canopy. Full credit must go to GarsideLaycock and indeed everyone who has had an involvement to date in this incident.

I just wanted to drop you a line to pass on our thanks to Alan and his team. They've done such a good job, everything has been really clean and today and they have caused us no trouble at all. Some of our staff have even commented that you wouldn't know they were there - which I think is a real credit to them all!!!
Can you please pass on our thanks to all concerned in the Norris Green building works project.
I am writing on behalf of myself, staff and governors. We just wanted to relay our thanks to you, Lee and the rest of your team for the excellent way this site has been run, organised and managed during the building of the Children’s Centre. Throughout the project the team of builders working in and around school have been hardworking, courteous and professional throughout their time here and ensured that any work done has had little impact on the day to day workings of the school.
It has been a pleasure working with Lee and his team and we look forward to working with you again in the future. Please relay our thanks to the ‘boys’, particularly Derek, Marvin, Graham, Graham, Paul, Scott and Lee who have gone out of their way in keeping myself, my Site Manager and my Deputy informed and involved, every step of the way.
